Commemorative fever..contagious.
1 Attachment(s)
I had posted my Connecticut Tercentenary purchase ( http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=429805 ) a few months back which was one of the first commemorative coins to ever grace my presence. I was warned by a fellow member about catching the "bug"... At the time I knew he was right but really didn't mind, I knew that I could stop at any time...:no_ma:
Before long I was arming up and stalking my prey as if it were natural instinct to survive. Hunting and taking down a graded commemoratives at any cost was seemingly all I knew how to do. Stalking, watching, sniping. Going right in for the kill. :s10: The only way to carry on was another coin for the pile, another slab for the vault. "Supplies are thin and winters are harsh." :36_1_63: I would tell myself. Mumbling, "Just a few more for good measure. You never know what can happen. Better to be safe than sorry." Before long I needed to find more space to hoard the feverish stockpile of coins and resources were getting thin. "If only I could build something like a log home using plastic rectangles instead!" It was about that time that reality struck...There was a problem. I had become obsessed with collecting. Thankfully I had an outlet; GIM. I could share my distress with others who would understand and then I could release my guilt and go on collecting MORE COINS!!! I am newmisty and I have a commemorative addiction. Thank you for letting me cure a little boredom with a post and picture of my growing collection. PS: Special thanks to History Teacher and a couple of others who's inspiring numismatic posts have helped enrich my life in many ways. |

Read the new article:
http://news.coinupdate.com/interview...n-buying-0193/ and congratulations on a side of USA numismatics that MOST sadly ignore. Remember that MS69 & PF69 grades (plural) are ONE HECK of a lot cheaper that the 70s - and I see (you know) also that the cheapest way is a third party who bought from the mint in original packaging years ago. So again congratulations - later you can always submit for grading too. :23_28_100s: |
